Statement
Our firm,
Goldfarb & Abrandt, like most in this new age has become more
and more dependent on technology. Our computer network
connected to the Internet has replaced the physical library.
Case management, calendars, conflict checking, time tracking
and billing are all integrated into our system. We use word
processing and document assembly to better serve our clients.
We track our files though our case management system and we
are planning to scan most client documents and link them to
case files.
We were also an "early" firm to have a web site. Our web site
(www.seniorlaw.com) has been up since 1996 and provides
information for both lay people, attorneys and other
professionals.
I believe that NYSBA through its web site can provide valuable
resources to its members. These resources should be tailored
to the individual needs of the members. Many of these
resources can be provided through the sites of the various
sections.
The most valuable features would be the following:
-
on-line access
to searchable newsletters, including links to the citations in
the newsletters;
-
listservers and
discussion groups included threaded discussions and archives;
-
e-mail bulletins
with new case and legislative developments;
-
forms not easily
found at other locations, including law practice forms such as
retainers.
